Le Monde, Surry Hills

Okay, so I've been a great blogger, not posting for almost 2 months and all. It's not that I was so busy or anything, it's just that I'm back in Jakarta, Indonesia and have been so busy eating out here. But, hey, I miss blogging and sharing food pics here. So here's some #foodporn and #throwback to my Le Monde experience.

See, the cafe is not that big, and it's on the street of Foveaux St. Not very eyecatching, but it has 94% rating on Urbanspoon.com and I'm trusting all the reviews so I gave this cafe a go. Verdict? 

I like it... honest food with fresh ingredients, nothing too fancy though... But, who needs fancy when you have good taste.

Potato Rosti - with gypsy ham, sauteed spinach, poached egg, hollandaise sauce, feta cheese and pistachio (AUD 16.00) *specials*

I've never had pistachios on my hollandaise sauce before, but I'm loving the idea. It adds texture on top of the crusty potato rosti, creamy hollandaise and yolk from the poached egg (I know, no eggporn, I was too excited to dig in I forgot to take a picture). Anyway, the gypsy ham was nice, it wasn't those sliced ham you got from the supermarket, it tasted like 'the real thing'. The crumbled feta was a nice touch to add saltiness and creaminess.
I cleaned the whole plate, and the only thing I'd change about this dish is the portion, I'd add one more egg and more hollandaise. Wait, maybe that's just me being greedy.

Hot Cake - with sliced strawberries, whipped yogurt and passionfruit sauce (AUD 13.00) *specials*

If you love a tangy breakfast, this is a go to dish for you. The hot cake was warm and fluffy, beneath those fresh strawberries and cold tangy yogurt and passionfruit sauce. Nicely cut the sweetness from the hotcake.

I personally love the passionfruit sauce, cause it was super tangy, summery and refreshing.

Eggs Benedict - with Gypsy Ham (AUD 13.00)

From the two specials, me and my friends ordered one from the menu. The old, classic Eggs Benedict. Most Eggs Benedict I find in Sydney these days were served on sourdough, brioche or even croissant. But, serving the classic, Le Monde's Eggs Benedict was awesome! I love the creamy, thick hollandaise sauce on top of the toasted English muffin and gypsy ham. Gotta love it.
And again, no eggporn shot.
